Procurement Training Courses

LUPC's mission to develop a best practice commercial approach to supply chain management includes fully supporting training for buyers in Higher Education and our partner sectors. A number of training options, provided by LUPC and other organisations, are available for the professional who wishes to improve his or her procurement skills. These range from one-day introductory courses aimed at less experienced buyers, to updates on EU directives and contract management for experienced purchasers.

Achilles courses

Achilles provides a number of open courses for procurement professionals.

Achilles EU Academy

Achilles also offers a six-module EU Academy course to improve your understanding of the principles and objectives of the EU procurement legislation and examine, in a practical way, the proper approach to advertising contracts, selecting suppliers and awarding contracts.

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), the Achilles EU Academy provides you with certification, CIPS CPD points and Solicitors Regulation Authority CPD points. It is useful for anyone who is new to EU procurement or looking to identify gaps in their EU knowledge for personal development plans.

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply offers a number of training services including study programmes, special events, and professional resources.

If you are studying for your CIPS accreditation and are struggling with EC procurement legislation, LUPC have secured an agreement with Achilles information for the use of Themis, the EC encyclopaedia of EC rules, with over 350 frequently asked questions link to relevant Court cases. Consolidated UK and Scottish Regulations, illustrations and flowcharts with further information against each flowchart.  EC Articles written by experts on specific topics to help you understand how the rules are interpreted.

There is an “Ask Achilles” function which allows you to ask EC question during this time for further clarification.
