Buying Through LUPC: News For Non-HE/FE Members
LUPC Members, that are Government organisations outside education, will be able to buy through LUPC framework agreements, it has been established. It ends a period of uncertainty when Members including Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) were unsure whether they would have to only buy through centralised Government contracts set up by the new Government Procurement body.
LUPC Members were present at a recent meeting at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport at which new Government CPO John Collington was reported to say that Departments are permitted to use LUPC deals as long as Government contracts have been tested first, to demonstrate the most value for money procurement route is selected.
Andy Davies, Director of LUPC said it was good to have clarity at last. “LUPC Members have only ever purchased through our agreements when we offer the best option for them, so you could say that it’s business as usual. It’s good to finally end the uncertainty for our Members, “ he said.
